In this article, I will discuss different types, their creative uses, current trends, and storage tips for preserved Amaranthus.

Preserved Amaranthus Types

Amaranthus is a group of over fifty species collectively known as "Amaranths." Within our dried and preserved Amaranthus range, we generally have two different types. Amaranthus Caudatus is known for its relatively long, hanging or drooping appearance, while the Amaranthus Hypochondriacus is known for its shorter and upright appearance.

Amaranthus Creative Use

Preserved Amaranthus is popular among florists, decorators and event stylists for various reasons. While the upright Hypochiondriacus Amaranthus works great for floral bouquets and arrangements, the hanging Amaranthus Caudatus is favoured among florists and event stylists for its elegant, somewhat dramatic, draping appearance that works well for statement pieces like ceiling installations (wedding) wall art and backdrops, table centrepieces or hanging planters or terrariums.

Amaranthus Trends 2025

While the white hanging Amaranthus is always a favourite, two key trends in 2025 exist. The first is the specific demand for different shades of green hanging Amaranthus. Secondly, the floral industry is simultaneously shifting from softer pastel colours to more vibrant colours, following the lead of the US and Europe.

Amaranthus Storage

Storing Amaranthus correctly is critical to get the most value out of your dried and preserved flowers. Therefore, we always recommend avoiding direct sunlight and high humidity and storing them at room temperature. They are made for indoor use and will last for years when handled with care, following these storage instructions.
